PI ResponsibilitiesClick here to download this document in MS Word format.IntroductionThis document explains the reporting responsibilities of Principal Investigators (PIs) funded by the EPA through the Center for Environmental and Energy Research at Alfred University. Reporting RequirementsReporting responsibilities of the Principal Investigators are: 1) Oral reports or posters at annual meetings of the Science Advisory Committee (SAC) meetings. 2) Written annual progress reports are due within 90 days of the project start date anniversary. EPA requires an annual progress report and report summary for each funded project for posting to the EPA website. Progress reports can be no longer than five pages, summaries no longer than two pages, and they must follow the attached format. 3) A final report (no page limit) and executive summary (3-5 pages) are due within sixty days following the close of the project (see guidelines). PublicationsTwo copies of all publications produced by a project funded through EPA, as well as abstracts, must be submitted to the EPA Project Officer in hard form and in electronic form, if available. Any journal article so published, however, must contain the following statement: “Although the research described in this article has been funded wholly or in part by the United States Environmental Protection Agency through grant/cooperative agreement (number) to (name), it has not been subjected to the Agency’s required peer and policy review and therefore does not necessarily reflect the views of the Agency and no official endorsement should be inferred.” Because EPA, through its National Center for Environmental Research (NCER), intends to post references to all publications resulting from the agreement on its web page, the PI is encouraged to notify the CEER Director of any papers that are published based on the research under the agreement. An acknowledgment of EPA support should be included on web pages and stated during all media interviews.
